What can I use it for?

With LockDown Browser, you can help preserve academic integrity in Canvas quizzes and exams:

Tips

You first need to enable LockDown Browser in your Canvas course, then apply it to the specific Canvas quizzes you want locked down.

  • Be clear and specific about your intent for using LockDown Browser。Explain these points to students:
    • LockDown Browser is used to make sure the exam experience is fair for everyone by locking down your main browser.
    • LockDown Browser runs as a separate program. You can also uninstall LockDown Browser when you are done.
  • Be explicit about what restrictions you set around what will and won’t be allowedon students’ computers during the assessment. Clarify procedures around washroom breaks, using scratch paper, or any other needs specific to your course. Provide procedures for opening spreadsheet editors or Zoom for the exam, if applicable.

Tips

Remember to start the meeting before the start of the assessment.

Tips

  • Canvas will always call your assessments a “quiz”那whether you want to assign a quiz or exam to your students.

  • Remove any special characters from your quiz titles.LockDown Browser is localized for multiple languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese, and special characters will interfere.
